Sodium Nitrite (250)

Did you know that Potassium Nitrite(249), Sodium Nitrite (250)  and Potassium Nitrate are used in ham, bacon, corned beef, saveloys and hotdogs,as well as some devon & luncheon rolls? It is used as a preservative and colour fixative Theses nitrites combine readily with the natural amines in the meat to form highly carcinogenic chemicals callled nitrosamines.  If a child eats 4-5 hot dogs per week they increase their risk of cancer by 300% (Dr.Samuel Epstein).
